Salvation Army: Help with our Parents ‘n’ Tots Group
The Salvation Army is a Christian church and we have a very busy well attended Toddler Group meeting here in the Community Centre every Thursday morning 10am – 11.30am. The children’s ages range from 9mths to 3 years old. It is a chance to help these young parents have a time where they meet their friends, get to know other parents and have an opportunity for their children to learn those essential social skills that are a building block for the rest of their lives. There is a selection of ride-on cars, scooters, trikes and other toys placed on the carpet with slides and see-saws to occupy the attention and energies of the toddlers. There is a refreshment time where the children have a biscuit and a drink, and parents have a cup of tea / coffee and the whole session ends with a Sing-a-long Nursery Song time. We open school term times only. The benefits are being part of the Salvation Army volunteers – a kind of fellowship and friendship which comes through spending time with others. You will be helping the local community by providing a valuable friendship group for the parents and safe social opportunities for these little people. You might also be able to share some tips and ideas for young parents if you yourself have raised a family.
