Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) Thames and Chiltern Local Scrutiny Involvement Panel
The Local Scrutiny Involvement Panel (LSIP) is the main mechanism through which the CPS engages with communities and partners. It gives an opportunity for community and public sector partners to influence our decision , particularly on Hate Crime and Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) prosecutions. The panel’s recommendations enable the CPS to deliver better prosecution services and to make improvements to our overall busines. CPS Thames and Chiltern’s LSIP is chaired by the Chief Crown Prosecutor, Jaswant Narwal or a Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor. Members are consulted on national and local priorities for example on the Code for Crown Prosecutors, and the CPS legal guidance on: Mental Health Conditions and Disorders. LSIP feedback also impacts positively on casework issues such as improving special measures applitions to support victims at court. From time to time we recruit new volunteers to widen the LSIP membership. Every effort is being made to recruit new members from a range of diverse community backgrounds situated across the Thames and Chiltern region. We are also keen to recruit new members from colleges / universities who can provide feedback on behalf of young people. Members’ of the panel bring with them their expertise and experience and can represent their individual views or the view of their own organisation/communities. If you would like to be considered to take up this voluntary role you will be required to: • Sign a confidentiality agreement and undergo security vetting • Give a day’s commitment on a quarterly basis to attend the LSIP meetings • Undergo training from time to time • Give feedback to the Panel on key priorities • Spread LSIP messages to your local networks • Travel for LSIP meetings to our CPS Reading or St. Albans offices
